The Team Playbook Template

Turn your competitor research into a method anyone on your team can repeat

You have done a few competitor teardowns yourself and found useful insights. But when you ask team members to do the same, results vary wildly in quality and focus. Everyone interprets the task differently and you spend hours reviewing inconsistent reports.

That is the gap this drop closes. It is a marketing skill built for Claude, and it takes about ten minutes to set up the first time. After that it runs in under a minute.

Who should use it

Marketing managers who need their team to run consistent competitor analysis without constant supervision

How it works

The skill file does five things, in this order.

1. Document your analysis structure. Write down the exact sections you examine when you review a competitor, with two or three example questions under each section.

2. Build a standard prompt with slots. Create one Claude prompt that accepts the competitor name and URL as variables, and outputs analysis in your documented structure every time.

3. Test with three real examples. Run the prompt against three different competitors and check that the output quality stays consistent and covers what you need.

4. Write a one-page guide. Create a short document showing team members where to find competitor information, how to feed it to Claude, and what to do with the output.

5. Review first attempts together. Have each team member complete one analysis while you are available to answer questions, then discuss what worked and what needs clarification.

What comes back

Your team produces competitor reports that follow the same format, cover the same dimensions, and require minimal editing from you

The mistake to avoid

Keep the first version of your prompt simple with five sections or fewer. You can add nuance after the team has run it successfully a dozen times.

Running it

Save this as SKILL.md inside a folder named after the skill, then drop the folder into your Claude Code skills directory or upload it to a Claude Project. Claude reads the frontmatter to decide when the skill applies, so keep the description line intact. For a one-off run, paste the prompt block directly.

Where this fits

On its own, one skill saves an hour a week. The compounding happens when three or four of them run in sequence on the same input, the same transcript that produces a scope of work also produces the follow-up email and the project brief. That is the point at which it stops being a prompt and starts being an internal tool. If you want that wired into the systems your team already uses, that is the work 67 Digital does.

In the file

You are analysing a competitor for our marketing team. I need consistent output that covers specific dimensions every time.

Competitor name: {competitor_name}
Website: {competitor_url}
Pages reviewed: {pages_or_content}

Analyse the competitor across these sections:

1. Core message
- What is their main value proposition?
- What customer problem do they emphasize?

2. Target audience signals
- What type of customer do they speak to?
- What language or examples reveal this?

3. Product or service emphasis
- Which offerings do they feature most prominently?
- What do they appear to prioritize?

4. Proof and credibility
- What forms of social proof do they use?
- How do they build trust?

5. Positioning gaps
- What customer needs do they not address?
- Where do they leave room for differentiation?

For each section, provide 2-3 concrete observations with specific examples from their content. Keep each observation to one or two sentences. Avoid interpretation or strategy recommendations.
